Electronic engineers design, develop, test, and manage the production of technologies ranging from drones and electric vehicles to smartphone components and hospital systems. This course provides diverse opportunities to build expertise in electronics through lab-based projects, individual and team collaborations, and skills in project management and problem-solving. In the second year, students may study at our campuses in China or Malaysia, experiencing new cultures while following the same English-taught curriculum as in the UK, including core modules and selected options. Graduates will emerge equipped to innovate in evolving electrical control systems, with the flexibility to specialize in year three. The four-year MEng program offers a deeper insight into electrical engineering, ideal for achieving Chartered Engineer status.In year one, all students pursue a common curriculum covering engineering mathematics, power and energy, and information systems. Year two, potentially abroad, focuses on design skills via modules like electrical energy conditioning, electronic processing, communications, and practical solutions. The third year includes advanced topics such as engineering mathematics, analogue electronics, integrated circuits, and optional modules. In the final year, students complete an individual project, often linked to departmental research, while exploring cutting-edge technologies.

In year two, you will study on our campus in China or Malaysia Year where you will develop your design skills through a variety of lab based subjects. Modules include electrical energy conditioning and control, electronic processing and communications and practical engineering design solutions. In your third year you will study core topics including advanced engineering mathematics, analogue electronics and integrated circuits and systems, as well as a range of optional modules. In your final year you will undertake an individual project and study state-of-the-the-art technologies. In many cases this project contributes to the major industrially related programmes undertaken by research groups within the department.
