Electronic engineers design, develop, test, and manage the production of diverse technologies, from drones and electric vehicles to smartphone components, satellite navigation systems, and hospital equipment.This course provides multiple avenues to build your electronics expertise through lab-based projects, individual and team work, and project management skills to address real-world challenges. Amid rapid technological advancements, graduates will emerge confident in creating and advancing future electrical control systems. All electrical and electronic programs share core content in the first two years, allowing specialization in year three based on interests. As a BEng graduate, options include registering as an Incorporated Engineer or pursuing Chartered Engineer status, equipping you for careers in industry or other fields. In years two and three, you'll enhance your electronic engineering knowledge and design abilities through laboratory subjects, with opportunities to select from specialist topics. Studies involve lectures, group work, tutorials, and self-directed learning, potentially exceeding 40 hours weekly.

What you will learn

All our electrical and electronic courses have the same content in year one and two so by year three, you can choose the topics that interest you. In your second year, you will continue to improve your understanding of electronic engineering, and your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based subjects. In your third year, you can choose from a range of specialist topics to follow a wide path, or focus on specific technologies. Through lectures, group study and tutorials combined with coursework and self-study, you may spend over 40 hours a week on your studies.
