About the course

Civil engineering integrates creativity with scientific and technological expertise to drive global change. Students learn to design and manage major projects through team-based studies in structures, geotechnics, materials, wind, fluids, transport, surveying, and construction management. The programme includes site visits to observe real-world applications and access to advanced facilities such as wind tunnels, earthquake simulators, design studios, and CAD tools. This four-year accredited BEng degree offers the option to progress to an MEng after the second year, based on performance, providing the ideal path to Chartered Engineer status. Year three involves a paid industry placement, supported by dedicated teams and tutor visits. The curriculum begins with foundational disciplines like structural mechanics and geotechnics in a project-based first year, deepens core subjects with design projects in year two, and culminates in electives, group designs, and individual research in the final year.
