About the course

This four-year MSci in Biochemistry is ideal for those fascinated by life sciences and the human condition. From the first term, students gain practical laboratory experience and essential skills in biochemistry and biology, guided by active researchers specialising in areas like human diseases and cancer. The programme allows customisation through optional modules and research projects, enabling focus on personal interests. It offers specialisms in human diseases, a wide array of electives, hands-on training, and opportunities for international study, such as at our Malaysia campus. The first three years align with our Biochemistry BSc, introducing core topics in cell biology, genetics, and chemistry, then advancing to proteins, genes, and metabolic regulation. Year three includes a research project, while year four features an in-depth project. Optional modules are available annually alongside core studies, with assessments comprising essays, coursework, exams, reports, presentations, and a dissertation.
