About the course

The BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science programme at Lincoln equips students with a comprehensive understanding of animal health and disease through a blend of animal science and rigorous laboratory analysis. It covers topics such as pathogen life cycles, infection, immunity, prevention, diagnosis, and treatments across various species, including exotic, wild animals, and humans.In the first year, students explore animal anatomy, physiology, cell biology, genetics, and metabolic biochemistry. The second year allows focus on areas like animal behaviour, protection, toxicology, and reproduction, while the final year includes individual research projects and optional overseas field trips or a placement year. Assessment methods vary by module, encompassing coursework, essays, exams, portfolios, group work, and presentations, with instruction from experts including professors and researchers. What you will learn

The first year of the degree introduces animal health and disease in light of animal anatomy and physiology, cell biology, genetics and the biochemistry of metabolism. The second year provides the opportunity for students to pursue individual interests within a wide range of topics, including animal behaviour, protection, toxicology and reproduction. In the final year, students embark upon individual research projects and are provided the opportunity to travel overseas to participate in research field trips as part of the optional 'Overseas Field Course' module. All full-time Bioveterinary Science students may take an optional placement year between the second and third year of the programme.
