About the course

Our BSc Honours in Psychology with Counselling examines the human mind, brain, and approaches to supporting individuals with mental health challenges through counselling and psychotherapy. This programme suits those aspiring to careers in therapy, counselling, clinical psychology, or the mental health sector. It equips students with transferable skills valued by employers, covering topics from cognitive psychology and neuroscience to developmental and social psychology. Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), the degree includes a project that, upon achieving at least second-class honours, grants eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership—a prerequisite for further training as a Chartered Psychologist. However, it does not qualify graduates to practise as counsellors or psychologists; additional postgraduate training is required.Key highlights include Greenwich being ranked among the top three London universities for psychology graduate careers (2021 Guardian League Table) and first in London for graduate prospects (2022 Complete University Guide). With 90% student satisfaction (2020 National Student Survey), the course offers strong preparation, with graduates potentially earning up to £30,000 (HESA, 2020). Modules and assessments are detailed on our website.
