Theology and Religious Studies examines religion, religious texts, and theology in relation to politics, history, literature, philosophy, art, culture, and personal beliefs and practices. We are dedicated to exploring how religion influences political and cultural life, including its role in human heritage, politics, conflict, and social attitudes. The program can be tailored to introduce various religions or focus on the Christian tradition. In English Literature, you will investigate all aspects of literature in English, drawing on expertise in areas such as American, Irish, and postcolonial literatures, critical theory, creative writing, and the intersections with other arts, media, and sciences. You will also access world-class Hunterian and Library collections, featuring strengths in 18th- and 19th-century works, travel, illuminated manuscripts, and significant single-author holdings.
