Sociology / History of Art, MA (Hons)

Sociology examines how people organize their lives collectively, the constraints they face, patterns of social behavior, and the causes and consequences of social inequalities. A distinctive feature of our programme, praised by external examiners and graduates, is the integration of sociological, criminological, and anthropological perspectives.History of Art investigates why paintings, sculptures, buildings, and designs in various media take their forms. You will access the University Library and Archives, The Hunterian museum and art gallery—featuring the renowned Hunter, Whistler, and Mackintosh collections—and Kelvin Hall collections-access centre. A third-year vacation grant supports visits to relevant museums, galleries, and buildings.
