About the course

The Social & Public Policy programme addresses global and societal challenges such as poverty, inequality, housing, health, technology, and sustainability. It draws on political science, sociology, and economics to analyse how governments respond to people’s needs, welfare, and wellbeing. The teaching team received the prestigious Social Policy Association/Policy Press Outstanding Teaching Award 2020 for excellence and innovation in UK social policy education (SPA 2020), with Social Policy at Glasgow ranked joint top in the UK for student satisfaction in the NSS 2019. Students benefit from work placements in voluntary or public sector organisations. The Theatre Studies degree examines theatrical events and culture from critical, historical, and practical perspectives, supported by close industry connections that enable collaboration with national and international practitioners.
