The Portuguese program encompasses the exploration of languages, literatures, and cultures from Brazil, Portugal, and the broader Portuguese-speaking world. At Glasgow, it provides a diverse curriculum where students engage in small groups with native speakers from Portugal and Brazil. The program maintains longstanding connections with the Instituto Camões and grants access to the Language Resources Centre, featuring high-quality audiovisual, digital, and printed resources.English Language and Linguistics examines the structure and meaning of the English language across history, offering insights into culture, society, and human identity. Over five decades, we have developed the renowned Historical Thesaurus of English, a distinctive tool for tracing the evolution of its extensive vocabulary. Students also benefit from specialized laboratories for the analysis of spoken and written language.
