About the course

Politics explores the distribution of power and influence in society and their effects on decision-making at national and international levels. Students will engage with a broad range of topics, including international relations, political theory, and British politics, while having the chance to participate in our expanding study abroad initiatives.Social and Public Policy addresses global challenges such as poverty, inequality, housing, health, technology, and sustainability by applying insights from political science, sociology, and economics to examine how governments respond to societal needs, welfare, and wellbeing. The programme's teaching team earned the Social Policy Association/Policy Press Outstanding Teaching Award 2020 for excellence in the UK, and Social Policy at Glasgow ranked joint top for student satisfaction in the NSS 2019. Students can also pursue work placements with voluntary or public sector organisations.
