**History**: The study of history examines change and continuity in human society over time. Glasgow's programme spans medieval to modern eras and global contexts, featuring small-group teaching, diverse assessments—including real-world tasks like policy papers and blogs—and one-to-one feedback tutorials. We host leading research centres in gender history, war studies, slavery studies, American studies, and Scottish and Celtic studies. Our teaching leverages world-leading expertise in Scottish, British, European, U.S., and global history, alongside slavery, gender, and war, intelligence, and genocide studies.**Sociology**: Sociology explores how people organise their lives, the constraints they face, patterns of social behaviour, and the causes and consequences of inequalities. A distinctive, highly commended feature of our programme—praised by external examiners and graduates—is its integration of sociological, criminological, and anthropological perspectives.
