The History of Art program explores how and why various art forms, including paintings, sculptures, buildings, and designs across media, develop their distinctive characteristics. Students access extensive resources such as the University Library and Archives, The Hunterian museum with its renowned Hunter, Whistler, and Mackintosh collections, and Kelvin Hall's innovative collections center. A grant is provided during the third-year break to support visits to relevant museums, galleries, and buildings. In Philosophy, the program systematically addresses profound questions about knowledge, life, morality, science, and human nature through reason and argument. It offers reading parties in the Highlands, a vibrant undergraduate Philosophy Society, and hosts the Centre for the Study of Perceptual Experience.
