Gaelic / French, MA (Hons)

This course summary highlights two language programs. In Gaelic studies, students explore the Scottish Gaelic language and its cultural evolution from historical periods to the modern era, while enhancing language skills for today's job market. Through topics such as folklore, song, modern poetry, autobiography, contemporary fiction, and drama, learners engage deeply with Gaelic. Additionally, the university's Gaelic initiatives and the city's dynamic community offer valuable opportunities to practice the language beyond the classroom.In French studies, participants examine a major European and global language, along with the cultures it has shaped worldwide. The program allows for exploration of diverse subjects, including French comics, song, travel writing, medieval history, and current events, providing a comprehensive understanding of France's linguistic and cultural influence.
