About the course

In the English Literature program, students delve into the full spectrum of English-language literature, drawing on expertise in areas such as American, Irish, and postcolonial studies, critical theory, creative writing, and the interplay between literature and other arts, media, and sciences. Access is provided to the University’s renowned Hunterian collection and the Library’s Special Collections, which excel in 18th- and 19th-century materials, travel literature, illuminated manuscripts, and notable single-author archives. In History of Art, the focus is on analyzing the creation and aesthetics of paintings, sculptures, buildings, and designs across various media. Students utilize the University Library and Archives, The Hunterian museum with its celebrated Hunter, Whistler, and Mackintosh collections, and Kelvin Hall’s innovative resources. Additionally, a grant is available during the third-year break to support visits to relevant museums, galleries, and architectural sites.
