The English Language and Linguistics programme explores the structure, meaning, and evolution of English, offering insights into culture, society, and human identity. Over the past five decades, our institution has developed the renowned Historical Thesaurus of English, a comprehensive tool for tracing vocabulary changes. Students also gain access to specialised labs for analysing spoken and written language.The Latin programme focuses on the language, literature, and civilisation of ancient Rome. It includes opportunities to visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy as part of the curriculum.
