English Language and Linguistics at the University of Glasgow examines the structure and meaning of English, past and present, revealing insights into culture, society, and identity. History explores change and continuity in human society across time, with a broad programme spanning medieval to modern eras. Our teaching leverages expertise in Scottish, British, European, US, and global history; slavery, gender, war, intelligence, and genocide studies. With over 75 years teaching English Language and Linguistics, our staff are field leaders.
