Classics encompasses the literature, history, art, and material culture of ancient Greece and Rome, with Latin and/or Greek language study available at all levels. History examines change and continuity in human society over time, while Scottish history focuses on Scotland’s past.At the University of Glasgow, students can visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy and Greece, with Honours students eligible for up to three weeks abroad (post-year 3) and financial support. Year 3 options include study at universities in Europe (e.g., Athens, Rome), Australia, New Zealand, or North America. Scottish History benefits from leading researchers and the interdisciplinary Centre for Scottish & Celtic Studies. Graduates pursue diverse careers in heritage, teaching, consultancy, finance, publishing, law, accountancy, museums, libraries, civil service, IT, and organisations like Glasgow Museums, HarperCollins, Oxfam, Morgan Stanley, and Police Scotland.
