Classics encompasses the literature, history, art, and material culture of ancient Greece and Rome, with Latin and/or Greek language study available at any level. Politics examines the distribution of power and influence in society and its impact on decision-making within and among countries.At the University of Glasgow, students can visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy and Greece, with Honours students eligible for up to three weeks abroad (post-year 3) including financial support. Year 3 options include study at universities in Europe (e.g., Athens, Rome), Australia, New Zealand, or North America. The programme covers international relations, political theory, and regional politics, with expanding study abroad opportunities. Graduates pursue diverse careers: Classics in heritage, teaching, consultancy, finance, publishing, law, accountancy, or academia (e.g., museums, librarianship, civil service, IT); Politics builds research, analytical, writing, and communication skills via workshops, alumni talks, and internships, leading to roles in civil/foreign service, government, charities, international organisations, teaching, business, media, and journalism.
