Celtic Studies combines language learning with courses on the medieval and modern Celtic cultures of the British Isles, while Scottish Literature examines Scotland's poetry, drama, fiction, and prose from the 14th century to contemporary works.At the University of Glasgow, students explore Celtic-speaking peoples' cultures with leading researchers and learn a Celtic language of the British Isles. The University hosts the UK's only unit dedicated exclusively to Scottish literature teaching and research, including the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, which is producing a new multi-volume scholarly edition of Scotland's national poet. Graduates pursue diverse careers in teaching, museums, heritage bodies, publishing, music, entrepreneurship, media, journalism, research, and education, with roles at the BBC, The Herald, National Library of Scotland, publishers, and TV companies. The degree fosters critical and creative thinking skills valued by employers.
