Celtic Studies offers a selection of courses on the medieval and modern Celtic languages of the British Isles, including Scottish Gaelic, Irish, and Welsh, along with their associated cultures. Students can explore the histories and contemporary aspects of Celtic-speaking peoples with leading researchers and learn a Celtic language from the region.History examines change and continuity in human societies over time, with Glasgow providing a broad programme spanning medieval to modern eras and global contexts. The department offers small group teaching, varied assessments such as policy papers and blogs, one-to-one feedback, and hosts key research centres in gender history, war studies, slavery studies, American studies, and Scottish and Celtic studies.
