About the course

Celtic Civilisation explores the history, societal development, literature, material culture, art, and religion of the Celts from their origins on the European continent to the modern British Isles. It enables students to examine medieval and contemporary cultures of Celtic-speaking peoples alongside leading researchers, as part of a joint degree program, without requiring study of a Celtic language.English Language and Linguistics investigates the history, structure, and meaning of the English language to uncover insights into culture, society, and identity. Over the past 50 years, we have developed the world-renowned 'Historical Thesaurus of English', with access to dedicated laboratories for analysing spoken and written language.
