Modern Languages and Latin, BA (Hons)

This flexible programme enables students to tailor their studies to personal interests or career objectives, studying Latin alongside another language such as Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish from beginner level. The degree title reflects chosen languages, with equal time allocated to each, while exploring connections between modern and ancient languages through in-depth analysis of Latin's expressive qualities and literary criticism.The programme features a Language Centre with modern facilities and opportunities for extracurricular engagement, including language societies, tandem partnerships, community liaison work, and events like the Translation! Festival—the UK's only public festival dedicated to translation.
