About the course

Knowledge stems from global human experiences, shaped by memory, culture, landscape, and myth. While often divided into disciplines like sciences, mathematics, history, geography, literature, and art, genuine knowledge transcends these boundaries, reflecting a complex, interconnected world. This course suits those passionate about diverse subjects, offering majors in History, Literature, Art History, Philosophy, Politics, Media Studies, or Sociology. It encourages imaginative and critical thinking through the humanities and social sciences, helping students explore how these fields interpret our realities. The program features modules on the historical roots of the humanities, challenging prevailing perspectives, and examining innovative essays and manifestos. With a flexible structure, students can select from optional modules in literature, film, philosophy, art history, history, linguistics, politics, sociology, and modern languages. Topics may include interpreting human relationships in films, crafting inspired writing, debating philosophical questions on life and religion, analyzing great art and literature, and studying languages. Based in the Interdisciplinary Studies Centre, it empowers students to choose based on their interests, engaging with provocative ideas to foster critical awareness and drive positive change—under 180 words.
