About the course

This course equips students with essential knowledge of how businesses make financial decisions and navigate international markets, delivered by Essex Business School's respected finance and management academics. It addresses the growing demand for professionals skilled in both quantitative finance and qualitative leadership, offering career flexibility for roles in finance teams, analysis, or general management. In the third year, students can opt for a paid work placement to enhance professional skills and CV, alongside access to a virtual trading floor using Bloomberg data and X_TRADER software for practical application. The curriculum covers topics such as management innovation, organisational behaviour, business strategy, human resource management, corporate finance, portfolio analysis, risk management, and financial markets. The first year provides a rounded introduction to finance, management, accounting, and economics, with opportunities to tailor studies through optional modules. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project to develop employability skills like critical thinking and time management. The program includes CFA Institute affiliation for scholarships and options for study abroad or placement.
