Our BA in Curating delivers a comprehensive foundation in art history and exhibition design, with a focus on how curatorial decisions influence viewer experiences in museums and galleries. Staff-led visits to London institutions and encouraged placements provide exposure to current practices, while opportunities to build digital skills prepare you for modern challenges. For instance, your final project involves curating an online exhibition, including a virtual walkthrough and accessible interpretive materials. You will also access the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA), Europe’s largest such collection, for hands-on experimentation with installations.The third year is spent studying abroad, allowing you to immerse in diverse cultures and languages, enrich your degree academically and socially, and demonstrate attributes like maturity, adaptability, and organization to potential employers.
