Social Psychology, BSc (Hons)

Social psychology examines how society and surrounding individuals—real, implied, or imagined—influence human behaviour. This degree explores key theories, research evidence, and methods, enabling critical evaluation of contemporary ideas and development of original perspectives. Delivered through research-led teaching in varied group sizes, UEA’s School of Psychology ranks 14th for research quality (Times Higher Education REF 2021). Students receive support from academic advisors, Learning Enhancement, and Wellbeing Teams, plus a four-week pre-arrival module. Topics include forensic psychology, pro- and antisocial behaviour, mental health, social groups, and behavioural change, with flexible module choices and pathway switches.In the third year, access state-of-the-art facilities like virtual reality suites, eye-tracking, and motion-tracking for an individual research project on topics such as substance use, conspiracy theories, or prejudice. Graduates pursue careers in market research, HR, healthcare, and social services, or postgraduate study in psychology or related fields, with dedicated career support including placements.
