Engineering focuses on innovative solutions, with mechanical engineers essential in designing and manufacturing items featuring moving parts, from household devices to renewable energy systems. This three-year course cultivates curiosity about mechanics, enhances problem-solving abilities, and prepares students for diverse engineering careers. In the first year, an integrated program builds foundational knowledge, skills, and industry links. From the second year, students specialize in mechanical engineering, covering solid and fluid mechanics, control systems, thermodynamics, design, and manufacturing, followed by a third-year industrial placement before final studies at UEA.The program concludes with a major individual project, potentially collaborating with industry or aligning with supervisor research, developing skills in project management, risk assessment, and communication. Students access state-of-the-art facilities at Productivity East, including CAD stations, 3D printers, and collaborative robots, and can showcase abilities at events like the Select Partnership Scheme.
