About the course

Cognitive Psychology examines the mental processes underlying human behaviour, including attention, language, memory, and perception. The BSc Cognitive Psychology degree at UEA equips students with essential theories and research methods in this dynamic field. Delivered through research-led teaching in varied group sizes, the program benefits from UEA's School of Psychology ranking 14th for research quality in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience (Times Higher Education REF 2021). Students receive support from academic advisors and university wellbeing teams, studying topics like brain and cognition, psychology of risk, language, and clinical neuropsychology. Flexibility allows switching pathways in the first year to align with emerging interests. In the third year, access to advanced facilities—such as virtual reality suites, eye-tracking, and motion-tracking equipment—enables hands-on research projects on areas like autism or visual perception. Students develop skills in data handling and human behaviour analysis, preparing for careers in human resources, data management, teaching, healthcare, or further study. Career support includes training events and paid placements. Note: Course details may change; verify on www.uea.ac.uk.
