This accredited BA programme in Popular Music focuses on performance, composition, production, and music technology, offering regular opportunities for public performances. Accredited by the Joint Audio Media Education Support (JAMES), a consortium promoting excellence in music education, the course covers a broad range of subjects including popular music performance, improvisation, arrangement, songwriting, production, music business, management, and studio techniques. These experiences foster skill development and growth.Designed for practising musicians interested in the technical and business aspects of commercial music, the programme includes about 10 hours of weekly staff contact through group activities to enhance skills on chosen instruments, with the remainder dedicated to independent study and performances. Students access excellent facilities, such as industry-standard recording studios, rehearsal spaces, music technology labs, and a range of instruments. This prepares graduates for careers in roles like performer, composer, producer, educator, promoter, publisher, academic, recording engineer, or freelance musician.
