About the course

BA (Hons) Law and Accounting explores how laws are created and reformed, how companies develop financial strategies, and the pivotal role of accountants in driving business success. This degree provides a comprehensive understanding of the English Legal System through diverse legal, factual, and conceptual sources, alongside foundational knowledge in financial and management accounting. Learning occurs via lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, student presentations, debates, one-to-one tutoring, work projects, self-directed study, video discussions with international partners, case preparation, mooting in mock courts, interviewing, and negotiation—building essential legal skills through practical and simulated experiences. From day one, students access specialized facilities like a replica Crown Court at One Friar Gate Square for authentic courtroom training and a Financial Markets Lab simulating real trading floors with live financial data. Optional placements between years two and three, or summer internships, enhance employability with institutional support. Graduates pursue diverse careers in law, civil service, management, education, and finance, with alumni succeeding in local firms, multinational accountants, merchant banks, and major businesses worldwide.
