Football Journalism, BA (Hons)

Our unique degree, the only one of its kind in the UK, provides a direct route into the football industry while addressing the rising need for expert multimedia journalists. It blends a passion for football with advanced journalism training, allowing students to join the ranks of talented professionals amid unprecedented interest in the sport.The programme offers practical experience in creating compelling stories across print, radio, TV, and online platforms, while exploring cutting-edge technologies reshaping digital news. Students will study the culture, history, and operations of football and its media landscape, gain insights through placements in relevant organisations, and utilise state-of-the-art facilities like TV studios and newsrooms. Additionally, we partner with Derby County Football Club Women to provide three full tuition scholarships for female entrants in 2023. This course equips graduates with versatile skills for diverse media careers beyond sport.
