Criminology and Sociology, BA (Hons)

The BA (Hons) in Criminology and Sociology examines the interplay between social issues and crime, exploring how community collaboration can address crime levels through sociological perspectives and criminological insights for lasting positive outcomes.This course provides a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, beliefs, and attitudes, focusing on crime's causes—such as inequality, prejudice, and substance abuse—and its effects on communities and society. Highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it addresses rising antisocial behaviour and crime in disadvantaged areas through community-based solutions. Learning involves lectures, seminars, group work, and research projects, with opportunities to engage with professionals and work on real-world briefs. Graduates can pursue careers in government, social justice, conflict resolution, or criminal justice sectors, including policing and probation. The program is also available with a Foundation Year.
