About the course

This course suits students eager to explore the application of numbers and data in politics. It delivers practical and analytical training to boost career opportunities and prepare for postgraduate studies, requiring no prior statistical knowledge. Approximately two-thirds of the program aligns with the single honours Politics and International Relations curriculum, where you will examine the politics of nations, governments, and international relations, while engaging with diverse analytical perspectives and methods. The remaining third focuses on interdisciplinary quantitative methods. In the first year, you will learn how data informs narratives in media and social research, including concepts like segregation and its measurement. The second year features hands-on classes in social statistics and data analysis to build numeracy skills and support an individual research project in quantitative social science during the third year. In the fourth year, advanced quantitative training prepares you for postgraduate research, alongside deepening expertise in politics.
