About the course

This well-balanced course encompasses a broad spectrum of engineering science and practice, preparing the next generation of mechanical engineers to make meaningful contributions to society in the 21st century. The curriculum integrates diverse professional skills in four key areas: design and manufacture, dynamics and control, materials, and energy and fluid flow. In the first two years, all students follow a shared program focusing on fundamental principles, delivered through lectures, seminars, laboratories, design classes, and short projects in modelling and manufacturing. In the third year, students apply these principles to complex, real-world engineering challenges, culminating in an open-ended individual research project that fosters independent and creative thinking. The course is professionally accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring recognition of its high-quality qualification.
