About the course

Sociology investigates how individual decisions are shaped by broader social forces and can be analyzed within their societal context. Students will explore the dynamics between individuals and groups, issues of belonging and identity, the social drivers of cooperation and conflict, and the formation and evolution of societies and institutions over time. They will also learn to compare diverse national contexts and address contemporary social issues from a global viewpoint.Faculty at the University of Edinburgh conduct research across various topics and incorporate it into teaching, providing exposure to a wide range of sociological ideas and approaches.
