Pharmacology examines how drugs influence the body to treat disorders or modify functions, integrating physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Students will study drug effects on molecules, cells, and tissues, including side effects and factors affecting absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination. Research aims to deepen understanding of drug actions and develop new medications for improved patient care. To teach in state schools in England or Wales, qualified teacher status (QTS) is required, but this course does not award it.
