About the course

Studying a BSc in Paramedic Science at Swansea University equips students with essential skills, knowledge, and attributes for a career as a Registered Paramedic. The curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, patient assessment, life-threatening conditions, life support, research, patient care, and legal-ethical principles in healthcare. With over a decade of experience, our teaching staff—many of whom are practising paramedics—combine academic rigour with professional expertise. Ranked 2nd in the UK for Paramedic Science (Guardian University Guide 2024) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council, the course ensures graduates meet legal requirements for practice. The program features advanced facilities, including a clinical suite for safe skill development, digital simulations with video feedback, and virtual reality for anatomy visualisation. Half the course involves face-to-face learning at Singleton Park, while the other half includes clinical placements with the NHS and Welsh Ambulance Services, such as on ambulances and in hospital settings. Modules span personal attributes, medical conditions, clinical leadership, and decision-making, with assessments including OSCEs, exams, presentations, and practical evaluations to build transferable healthcare skills.
