About the course

Our three-year Mental Health Nursing degree provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training to deliver high-quality, compassionate care that enhances mental health and wellbeing. You will develop strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork with professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, while improving care for individuals, their carers, and families. The programme splits teaching equally between Swansea University's Singleton Park campus and diverse healthcare settings in south west Wales, offering clinical experiences in community centres, hospitals, and specialised areas like forensic and adolescent nursing.Ranked in the UK Top 10 for Nursing (Times Good University Guide 2024) and Top 25 overall (Guardian University Guide 2024), the course features expert staff who are practising clinicians, supported by realistic clinical facilities for hands-on learning. Modules progress from foundational topics in Year 1 to advanced practice in Year 3, with assessments including essays, presentations, exams, and practical evaluations. Upon graduation, you can apply for Registered Nurse (Mental Health) status with the Nursing and Midwifery Council for opportunities in the EU and EEA.
