Our three-year Midwifery degree equips you with essential clinical and interpersonal skills to support women's physical and emotional well-being during pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood. You will learn to critically analyse research for evidence-based practice, with teaching split equally between university sessions at Singleton Park campus and practical placements in community teams, birth centres, and hospital units across south west Wales. Our program boasts strong links with Welsh health boards and an excellent reputation, ranking 5th in the UK for Midwifery (Guardian University Guide 2024), while the university places in the top 25 overall. Staff, many of whom are active midwives, combine theoretical expertise with practical insights, supported by realistic clinical facilities.The curriculum includes modules such as 'Pregnancy and the Professional Midwife' in Year 1, 'Additional Care for Women with Complex Needs' in Year 2, and 'Consolidating My Midwifery Practice' in Year 3. Assessment methods encompass essays, exams, OSCEs, portfolios, and presentations. Graduates are eligible to register as midwives with the Nursing and Midwifery Council for work in the EU and EEA.
