About the course

Biology is a broad and captivating field focused on the scientific exploration of living organisms, from bacteria to large mammals. This BSc Biology with a Year in Industry program equips students with essential knowledge and skills for diverse careers in medicine, veterinary science, environmental management, conservation, and teaching. Delivered in cutting-edge facilities, including a £4.2 million science lab, a unique £1.3 million Visualisation Centre for animal monitoring, and a £1.6 million survey vessel, the course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Students learn from leading academics, such as Professor Rory Wilson, innovator of animal tracking technology, and Professor Tariq Butt, expert in pest control. The curriculum covers themes like animal welfare, microbiology, and climate impacts, with modules spanning animal diversity, ecology, physiology, and field courses in varied habitats. Year three involves an industrial placement to enhance employability, while assessments include exams, coursework, and research projects. Swansea University guarantees conditional offers, subject to requirements, with opportunities for customization through local and international experiences.

What you will learn
