Osteopaths are professionally trained in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders. They integrate conventional medical testing with palpation and motion testing to develop informed clinical strategies for patient care.Training includes musculoskeletal diagnosis, clinical procedures for medical tests, physical examinations, and motion testing to support patient assessments. Osteopaths tailor treatment decisions to individual patients, offering advice on posture, exercise, lifting techniques, nutrition, and more. Work-integrated learning begins in the first year with observations at the RMIT Health Clinic. In the final two years, students perform safe evaluations, diagnoses, and management of various musculoskeletal issues under the supervision of registered osteopaths for 38 weeks annually, with opportunities for placements in Australian clinics.
