About the course

During your four-year degree, you will undertake core units in psychology and visual communication, along with psychology electives, while developing skills in critical and creative thinking, self-awareness, and digital fluency through QUT You units. This prepares you for a rapidly evolving future. In the first year, you will explore foundational psychology topics, including biological and cognitive aspects, research methods, design processes, and emerging technologies, while considering social, ethical, and environmental impacts. Hands-on experience begins early through design fabrication, focusing on prototyping physical objects. As you progress, you will build professional agility, high-level communication, critical thinking, and robust research skills, engaging in self-reflection and collaboration with peers and communities. Your visual communication major will enhance practical and theoretical expertise in specialisations such as graphic design, typography, image making, information design, experience design, motion design, branding, and interaction design. Students pursuing psychology honours must complete PYB350 Advanced Statistical Analysis as an elective, which is required for fourth-year entry.
