Social work is a vocational discipline designed to educate and train students as qualified social workers, who serve on the front lines addressing community and personal challenges. They deliver essential services to people of all ages in need and wield formal legal powers in response to issues such as child abuse, vulnerable adults, mental health crises, and offender rehabilitation.The School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work at Queen's University is a leading UK centre for social work education, ranked first out of 74 universities by The Times Good University Guide 2010. Courses are developed and delivered in partnership with diverse agencies, blending academic study with assessed practice placements supported by practice teachers in local social work organizations.
