About the course

This course ignites a passion for the animal kingdom, equipping students with essential skills and knowledge for diverse careers in zoology. Set on the picturesque Brackenhurst Campus, it emphasizes practical learning through field trips, lab work, and interactive sessions, using the campus's natural environments like woodlands and streams as an outdoor classroom. The program explores broad topics including physiology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and animal behaviour, fostering enthusiasm among peers and lecturers.Modules span three years: Year One covers animal behaviour, reproduction, genetics, physiology, pathogen biology, ecology, and taxonomy. Year Two includes physiology of behaviour, research skills, vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, host-parasite relationships, and collections. The final year features a dissertation, field zoology, cognition and behaviour, applications and advances, plus an elective in anthrozoology or aquatic zoology. Assessment involves coursework, exams, and practicals, with proportions varying by year to ensure a well-rounded science degree under 180 words.
