About the course

Nuclear technology powers cities and advances medicine. This course explores nuclear physics applications in energy, healthcare, propulsion, and reactor design, while building foundational physics knowledge. Gain hands-on experience through experiments in our ionising radiation laboratory, a final-year project, optional industry placement, and research lab volunteering to enhance technical skills and confidence.Choose this course for inspiring facilities, including an IAU-recognised observatory, radio telescope, CT/MRI scanners, advanced microscopes, and ionising radiation lab. Study IOP-accredited MSci/BSc programs developed with global partners, accelerating Chartered Physicist status. Contribute to impactful research in superhydrophobic surfaces, MRI, art conservation, and space weather—recently honoured with the Queen’s Anniversary Prize. Secure placements at CERN, E.ON, Diamond Light Source, or abroad, plus paid summer research and teaching opportunities.
