About the course

Our Mechanical Engineering courses offer a perfect blend of classroom and experiential learning, honing creative problem-solving skills through cutting-edge digital technologies, hands-on training, live projects, and the annual industry Grand Challenge. Supported by expert staff and technicians, students can tailor their path with optional modules, online resources, and projects—recent examples include reverse-engineering everyday objects, designing a Mars lander, and using industry-standard software to build a model bridge. This practical approach, rooted in real-world industry examples, equips graduates for diverse careers in medical, environmental, automotive, aerospace, resource, advanced manufacturing, and alternative energy sectors, delivering 3-4 years of industry experience before graduation. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council, fully meeting academic requirements for Incorporated Engineer registration and partially for Chartered Engineer. It is also recognised by the CDIO framework, emphasising project-based learning in the context of Conceiving—Designing—Implementing—Operating real-world systems.
