About the course

Digital technology has transformed how we consume information, with journalists playing a crucial role in gathering and reporting on global events, current affairs, politics, sports, and entertainment across various platforms to address the growing demand for real-time news. Students can specialise in optional modules such as sports, news, fashion, photography, podcasting, or celebrity journalism. The BA (Hons) in Journalism, developed in partnership with major media organisations, offers an industry-recognised qualification highly valued by employers. Accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), the course includes NCTJ exams with fees covered, providing practical training in news journalism across platforms like newspapers, magazines, mobile, and tablets. It covers traditional skills such as writing, interviewing, media law, politics, and shorthand, alongside digital competencies like online writing, social media use, and video creation. Students also gain transferable skills for fields including public relations and communications. This award-winning programme was named the top-performing NCTJ accredited undergraduate journalism degree in the UK for five consecutive years (2013-2017).
