The world is changing, with climate-induced weather patterns presenting major challenges to feeding a growing population. This course emphasizes innovative agricultural approaches, equipping students with skills for sustainable practices and global food security. Developed in collaboration with the National Trust—one of the UK's largest landowners—it offers hands-on learning at the University's 200-hectare farm and rural estate in Brackenhurst, focusing on modern technologies like GPS, drones, robotics, and data analysis to revolutionize traditional farming. The curriculum covers key modules across three years: Year One includes livestock and crop production systems, soil science, and agricultural operations; Year Two explores contemporary issues, experimental design, livestock nutrition, and optional topics like crop health or GIS; and the Final Year features advances in production, environmental management, a dissertation, and electives such as global food security or business management. Assessment methods progress from a mix of coursework (63%), exams (17%), and practicals (20%) in Year One, to predominantly coursework in later years, reaching 100% in the Final Year.
