About the course

The BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production focuses on creative storytelling as its foundation, driving a multidisciplinary experience that explores the human condition and its societal impacts. Students build core skills in producing, script development, direction, cinematography, sound design, and editing, while mastering industry-standard processes from pre-production to post-production. Through collaborative projects in visual narrative, drama adaptation, and sound design, they reflect on creative decisions, experiment with text, image, and narrative structures, and gain knowledge of legal, ethical, and sustainable production practices. In the final year, students produce an original short film for potential industry screening, supported by ScreenSkills accreditation that ensures a rigorous curriculum for careers in film, high-end television, and creative sectors. The program encourages self-evaluation to foster ongoing development, with opportunities to view student work via the university's online showcase. Modules and assessments emphasize practical portfolios, research, and reflective journals, preparing graduates for professional success.
